• Bowen therapy is very gentle and non-invasive therapy where we work on the skin and trigger your body’s own nervous system to do the rectification. This therapy will not only give relief from the current issue but also help to remove the problem altogether.

  • Bowen therapy is best performed on the skin, wear loose-fitting clothing that your practitioner can work through. Or be prepared to be worked on in your underclothes, under sheets or blankets for modesty and comfort.

  • Instant relief is very common however it all depends on the condition you present with. In most cases some level of relief is felt during or within a few hours of the session.

  • In most cases people see results after the first session itself. Minimum three sessions are recommended to address an issue. Chronic conditions can take up to six sessions or ongoing sessions in some cases. These are estimates only as each session is built upon the last one. The sessions are tailored to the individual’s response to the Bowen Therapy as every individual is different. In saying that, its highly beneficial for the client to take regular Bowen sessions (every 4 to 6 weeks) to maintain optimum health and well-being.

  • Bowen is NOT a massage. Bowen is fabulous at allowing the connective tissue fascia) to unwind. The work is systemic. It affects the entire body. You will feel more relaxed in a way you haven’t felt before.

  • Whilst undertaking Bowen treatment, you may continue to undergo any non-manual treatment.

    A single Bowen session can initiate a plethora of beneficial changes that continue for several days post treatment. Undergoing other manipulative therapies simultaneously during this time can interrupt this process and undermine the overall effectiveness of the Bowen work. It is therefore recommended that the client wait a week after completing Bowen work before commencing any other manual therapy.

  • Yes, however it is important that for the first 24 hours after a treatment avoiding strenuous exercise or exertion and making rest a priority.

  • Yes, you should continue your medications as Bowenwork has no negative implications with medication. Before reducing or discontinuing any medication, always consult the health care professional who prescribed it to you.

  • Along with few other Natural Therapies Bowen Therapy could no longer be claimed on private health insurance since 1 April 2019.
